This Privacy Policy explains how AutiLearn ("AutiLearn," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information through the AutiLearn Android app and the autilearnkids.cc website.
Who this policy covers
AutiLearn is used by three kinds of people: the parent or caregiver who sets up and manages a child's account, the support partner a parent chooses to link to their child's account, and the child, who uses the app's Learn, Play, Talk, and Practice tools without ever creating an account themselves.
Information we collect
AutiLearn is built so that most of what happens in the app stays on the device it's used on. It's important to be precise about which information stays local and which passes through our servers.
Stored only on your device — never sent to or stored on our servers:
- A child's first name or nickname, entered by their parent or support partner
- Progress data: weekly independence trend, game and activity results, letter-tracing completion
- Session notes, a progress gallery, and Skill Node customizations (including practice photos and custom voice prompts) entered by a support partner
- Custom content created through Board Builder, and any photos captured with Practice Camera
Processed through our servers, to make accounts and messaging work:
- Name and email address, used to create and secure a parent or support partner account
- Sign-in credentials via Google Sign-In or email/password authentication
- The connection created between a parent and support partner account when they link using a secure invite code
- The content of messages sent between a linked parent and support partner — this is the only in-app content transmitted between two devices
Collected automatically: basic diagnostic and usage data (such as crash logs and general feature usage) that helps us keep the app working reliably. This data is encrypted in transit.
How we use this information
- To operate core app features on your device: tracking a child's progress locally, and generating weekly progress views from that on-device activity
- To create, secure, and maintain parent and support partner accounts, and to establish the connection between a linked parent and support partner
- To enable real-time messaging between a linked parent and support partner
We do not use information collected through AutiLearn to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.
How information is shared
The only information that passes between a parent's and a support partner's devices through AutiLearn is the content of the messages they send each other. We do not transmit or store a child's progress data, session notes, Skill Node customizations, or photos on our servers, and this locally-stored information is never shared with us or with anyone else through the app. Account and message data processed on our servers is not shared with advertisers or unrelated third parties. We may disclose information if required to comply with a valid legal request.
Children's privacy
AutiLearn does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Account creation and every point where personal information is entered live behind the app's "Grown-up door" — accessible only to a parent or support partner. Any information about a child is entered and controlled by the adult responsible for that child, who can review, edit, or delete it at any time. This approach is designed with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in mind.
Data security
Information stored locally on a device is protected by that device's own security, such as its screen lock and operating-system protections — we recommend keeping the device secured. Account credentials and message content processed through our servers are encrypted in transit and stored using Firebase infrastructure, accessible only to the sender and recipient of a given message.
Data retention
Information stored locally on a device remains there until it's removed in-app, the app's data is cleared, or the app is uninstalled — we hold no separate copy of it to retain. We retain account and message data on our servers for as long as an account remains active. If you delete your account, that server-held data is removed as described on our Account & Data Deletion page.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you or a child you manage. Information stored locally can be viewed, edited, or deleted directly within the app at any time. Account and message data held on our servers can be removed by deleting your account in the app (see our Account & Data Deletion page), or by contacting us at autilearnkids@gmail.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as AutiLearn evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
